at last Apple releases a 13.3” MacBook

Apple goes on with new notebooks based on Intel Core Duo platform. At last it has released a long-awaited and much rumored compact notebook MacBook. Till this moment the company had already introduced 15” and 17” MacBook Pro.

It is equipped with a 13.3” widescreen LCD and stands out for its slim size and high productivity. The MacBook is positioned as the substitute to the compact iBook and 12” PowerBook. According to the company it is five times faster than the iBook and four times than the 12” PowerBook.

The recommended price for the MacBook starts from $1099. Currently there are three main models – with a 1.83 GHz processor in white shell and with a 2 GHz processor in white or black shell. I’d mark that connectivity opportunities do not include an integrated modem, a USB-modem is offered as an option.

The main specs of the MacBook:
13.3” widescreen LCD, 1280x800 pixels
Intel Core Duo 1.83 or 2 GHz processor
Up to 2 GB of DDR2 667 MHz
Graphics - Intel GMA 950
HDD up to 120 GB
Optical drive Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) or SuperDrive (DVD±RW/CD-RW) supporting double layer disks
Wi-Fi (802.11g) and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
Built-in camera iSight
Dimensions 325x275x22.7 mm
Weight – 2.36 kg

looks good and still hard to use

I hated using the apple in advertising class back in highschool, slow, inefficient, and way too much on the looks.

Walk into a class w/ the dome apple comps, and everything looks koo, until u start using one

Lol!! the battle of PC vs MAC on Outie. Too be honest Mac is way better and faster than PC. But PC is just more efficient in doing illegal stuff.

I'm not saying Apple is crap, I'm just saying those old CRT iMacs that ran OS 9 were slow. I mean you don't go around labeling the whole PC platform on the basis that you used a Celeron with a 5400rpm hdd, would you?

Hmm...I think Mac should just stick with white...somehow I don't seem to like the black Mac because it doesn't look as stylish as the white Mac...if they were to make it black...they should make the black with a little metallic instead of plain black plactic...which looks more like a toy or fake notebook...;)

hey, you seriously think it's plastic? it's anodized brushed black aluminium!

2ghz duo core processor.. call that slow BITCH! :)

o well there is definatly a battle between mac's and PC's but i think that PC win out overall cause nothing really comes out for Mac's so if u want programs its a lot harder to find

No it's not. The shell on the Macbook, whether black or white, is all plastic.

I guarantee.

The funny thing though, is the black one is the most expensive. From the next model up, you only get 20GB more, but it costs $200 more.

my school's using powerMac G5s all of them. but they still suck. it's how the windows are organized. everything looks too messy to me.

Yeah I've been waiting for these to come out. Been wanting to convert to Apple for a while now. This would be an awesome one to start out on, it's more powerful than ever and looks slick.

That's actually really surprising to hear. I'm a dual Windows/Apple user, and OSX is by far the more simpler and easy to use operating system.

I also have both a Mac and PC at home and I find the PC windows more organised because everything is at the taskbar at the bottom so you can see all the windows that are below the ones you are using and select them instantly.
Mac OS X has made this simpler to do by adding the expose function, which is a way cooler method of sifting through multiple windows (it awes my friends and makes them feel like owning a Mac). But before this, with OS 9 and early OS X, it was a pain in the butt if you have more than 5 windows open and wanna look for the one you want.
I have to say that the Mac is not perfect. There are some things that I wish the Mac could do but there are also some things that I wish the PC could do. That's why I spent the extra cash to get a PC even though I had a Mac cause there were some things that it couldn't do. It's good, but it's not perfect.

And I don't see why you pay US$200 more just for the Black colour and extra 20GB HDD. Everything else is the same, so for those of you who are thinking of getting the back MacBook, I suggest you think again cause you're paying an extra US$200 just for 20GB more HDD, if you ignore the black colour.

wonderboy923 - 5-22-2006 at 03:02 AM

one thing i hate about this version of the MacBook is it's glossy display, although it's said to make the visuals a lot better in vibrancy and color, it display a bit too much reflection. If you try to take that laptop out int he sun, be warned, the sun will have a major affect on the reflection of the glossy window display, the cheap switch over from the original matted display to the now glossy display isn't all that great, just being in a regular room can cause glares.

but hey, NO computer is perfect...all computers are obsolete eventually.
