VAIO UX Micro PC: the first full-featured PC of pocket size

Sony Electronics has announced today its VAIO UX. We’ve recently mentioned the device under this name. The full name is VAIO UX Micro PC. The company positions it as the world first full-featured PC of pocket size. It weighs slightly above 450 g, at the same time it is powered by Microsoft XP Professional and Intel Core Solo ULV processor
Its LCD has a 4.5” diagonal instead of 7” as expected. By sliding it you see the keyboard. You can also operate the device with the stylus. Connectivity opportunities include WWAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. As a matter of fact, there are two cameras – the frontal one for video conferences and the other for photo capture located on the back panel.

There is a fingerprints scanner to ensure higher protection. It’s possible to plug the PC to projector via VGA-adapter. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, iLink IEEE-1394, VGA and AV outs. VAIO UX Micro PC will be commercially available in July at some $1800.:headbang:

Niceeee.. I always liked Vaio notebooks.. good to see Sony's moving into the pocket PC trend. My only complain about this is that, it lacks a network port hahaha. Other than that, it's perfectly slick, sexy and cool.

wow that's is crazily expensive
i am not too in to these new "Micro PCs"
i like laptops more, just because of the bigger screen
and i am sure that because of the size, the hardware components (like different video cards) will be limited

the micro PC trend will take over the tablet PC style...

i wouldn't mind having a micro PC, they are much portable than a small tablet pc (10";)

This one is Japnese model. The US model also has Cingular EDGE antenna/1.2ghz/30gb.

Sony also announced a 16GB Flash-drive for this UX to replace the 30GB 1.8" HD. It will be lighter and possibly faster, but same size/dimension.

i think eventually there will be no need for either of these i read in some articles they were working with like the plastic screens and something but pretty much it is a full desktop PC that can be folded up into your pocket but that is just something i read

Is this another one of those Origami stuff that Microsoft is backing recently? The only difference I can see with this one is that it has a keyboard attached. The dimensions and functions seem to be relatively similar to the other origami products put out by Samsung and Toshiba.
