Samsung YP-K5: an MP3 player with sliding stereo speakers

Today at IFA 2006 in Berlin Samsung Electronics has introduced its MP3-player YP-K5 equipped with sensor buttons, an FM-tuner and built-in stereo speakers. When the speakers are idle, they are hidden inside the player, but they can slide out and make a mini stereo-system.

With the file-manager you can sort music tracks by folders, so they are easy to search for. When the stereo speakers panel is out, the K5 is automatically switched from portrait to landscape menu mode.

The specs of Samsung YP-K5:
1.71” full color OLED-LCD
Memory - 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB
Battery life – up to 30 hours of continuous work
Charge time - (AC) 3 hours / (USB) 3.5 hours
Interface - USB 2.0
Formats - MP3, WMA, (Audio) ASF
FM-tuner – pre-settings, manual
Misc - Music Management System (CDDB), ROM update
Standard kit - headphones, USB card, CD with the PC software
Dimensions – 98x47.5x18.1 mm
Weight - 106 g

Looks more like a prototype than a production model. Nevertheless, it looks pretty slick... i'm sure it'll cost quite a bit.

That is one good looking MP3 Player, but I just hope it works as good as it looks.
