Estimated release date is 2009

None of the Macross series or movies really have much to do with each other. Almost like the Gundam saga. Except that Macross actually has a linear timeline spanning centuries.

But the general background story is that a huge alien spacecraft landed on Earth years ago, and there was an alien invasion. However, there has been a new story in each iteration of the Macross legend.

I think Macross F (Frontier) takes place many years after Macross 7. So you have new technology, new generation of characters, and hopefully all new alien enemies.

I'd be really jumping over this, if I wasn't completely turned off by Macross Zero. It was the worst anime that I've ever seen....because you turn on Macross expecting to see fighter jets all transforming, and then they'd be fighting..kinda like Gundam. Instead, what I get is 5 episodes, 30 minutes each of some girl who keeps calling everything kaduns without explaining what they are and then gets into some kinda fit over it....and how she has sinned against the bird-human....big load of crap because they think that some alien thing is a diety...how out of ideas do you have to be to think of something as farfetched as that? At least try to make it interesting...

But yea..I really want to watch the very first macross though..if anyone knows where to dl...or where to buy good quality one for decent price...

I don't believe that Macross I movie ever came out in DVD form... but there was a copy of it floating around BT a couple years ago.

However, the original Macross I series (which the movie was based off) did get re-released by ADV films.

Someone is sellin the first 5 volumes on ebay for pretty cheap.

or you can probably pick i up from any cheap anime dvd online seller, advfilms or local bestbuys, fry's, etc.

From http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-11-07/macross-f-sequel-with-nue-yoko-kanno-set-for-2008

The story of Macross F takes place in 2070s (three decades after the last major sequels, Macross Plus and Macross 7) aboard the 11th Macross Frontier super-long-distance colonization fleet with 10 million citizens. Ranka Lee (newcomer Megumi Nakajima, pictured below) is heading to the concert of Macross Frontier's top Galaxy Network idol, Sheryl Nome, when she encounters a pilot trainee named Alto Saotome — and when a mysterious enemy attacks the fleet. The story will also feature Ranka's older brother, the veteran pilot Ozma Lee, and the U.N. Forces' latest main variable fighter, the VF-25.

As previously reported, Macross creator Shoji Kawamori of Studio Nue will collaborate with the animation studio Satelight (Macross Zero, Noein) and music composer Yoko Kanno (Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop) for the series. Due to the rigors of composing a television series, Kawamori said that Kanno will be sharing her duties with another composer as she did with The Vision of Escaflowne and Aquarion. Kawamori will oversee the project and design the main variable fighters while Junya Ishigaki (Macross Zero's Destroids, Noein) and Takeshi Takakura (Appleseed movies, Noein) will contribute additional mechanical designs.

Spoiler Clip from Episode 2. Probably the best Macross battle sequence to date in the past 25 years yet.

Brilliantly orchestrated by Yoko Kanno.

Very multidimensional dog chase. You don't see this in Gundam... Truly Epic.
