have to take down a wall mounted tv

I have to take down a tv that has been mounted onto a wall.
I'm not sure if it's plasma or lcd. I think its about a 30inch screen.

I've never done this before. How difficult is it? Will I need a second person?(I'm pretty strong, but only have 2 hands).
What sort of tools do I need?

Sorry I don't even know what kind of mounts they are.

im a noob, but isn't it just basically unscrew the screws while someone holds the TV and after all the screws are loose take down the TV? along with the mount afterward?

its got a wall mount right? so there should be a way to remove the tv first (yes you should need a 2nd person) and then unscrew the mount.

Theres a heavy anchor piece that's screwed into the wall and the mount itself is bolted on to the tv. The mount is dropped into the anchor piece at an angle which wedges the whole mount unit in place and then tightened with an allen key. So if u loosen that connection with an allen key, u should b able to lift the tv right off, then remove the anchor from the wall without the tv hanging there. 30" screen is pretty light, but getting lifting it off the mount alone and carefully could b tricky cuz it's wedged at a certain angle.

I don't have any specific tool for that mount. I wasn't the one that mounted it.
Would I be able to do this with just regular standard tools?

a set of allen keys are pretty standard in my toolbox, but i duno wut your standards are. Allen keys or hex keys, in case u duno, are those fun little twirly things u get from ikea furniture to screw those socket that look like a hexagon. Screwdrivers are a must if ur gonna remove the anchor from the wall.

the tv should be removable just by lifting it up off the hinges of the mount. after that unscrewing the bolts of the mount from the wall should be simple. since its only a 30in you can probably move it down yourself but i would get a second person just to be safe.

1. Unscrew the screw from Tv and wall mount. Depending on the mount, you might need someone to hold the tv while u unscrew.
2. take off the tv!
3. Unscrew the mount!
4. get some wall paste to patch up the wall!

You do not need a second person if you can lift a 30" TV.

1. Check the bottom of the TV first, usually that's where the mounting bracket on the TV is secured.
2. You might see 2 screws or you might not. Try to unscrew them, sometimes they are standard philips screws, sometimes they require a special tool that came with the mount (they are also called security screws to prevent theft).
3. After these 2 screws are gone, try to tilt the bottom of the TV toward you. If that works, you can proceed to lifting the TV upward. The rest should be simple.

it all depends on the mount you have, i used to move tvs to and from ppl's houses all the time for a job, and i've seen many types, most common is a mount on the back of the tv that hooks onto a base screwed into the wall, however i've seen other types where the mount on the tv has locking screws that hold it tight onto the base so it doesn't move, and such, also seen a mount that slides onto the base from the side....

either way, i suggest 2 people doing this, even if the tv is light and small, it can get kinda awkword to move the tv off the base by yourself, esp if you got like a 40 some off inch on there

i don't think you need a 2nd, but it definitely would help especially since there is a risk of dropping an expensive object.
