The Siphon Bar: $10,000 Coffee Machine

Manufactured by Lucky Cremas, a subsidiary of Ueshima Coffee Co. of Japan, the 40-inch-long contraption is an eye-catching combination of bowls and baubles, buttons and tubes.

Here is how it works: First, a halogen bulb capable of reaching 450 degrees Fahrenheit heats water in the Siphon's lower bowl to just below boiling.

Next, extreme heat pushes the water through a siphon into an upper bowl as a "siphonista" stirs the coffee.

Then heat is reduced 30% to 50% during the 20 to 40 seconds of brew time. Liquid returns to the lower bowl.

End result: A $6.50 cup that's just about perfect.

if it's at a restaurant/classy cafe, then it's okay to have the machine

at home... that's just plain unnecessary

Sounds like people with too much money to throw away for a machine like this.
