X1 Red Bull Prototype Gran Turismo (Designed by Adrian Newey & Kazunori Yamauchi)

The no-holds-barred prototype developed by Polyphony Digital and Red Bull. The X1 is the answer to Kazunori Yamauchi’s (Polyphony Digital CEO) question: “If you built the fastest racing car on land, one that throws aside all rules and regulations, what would that car look like, how would it perform, and how would it feel to drive?”

It’s been developed in conjunction with Formula 1’s most renowned aerodynamicist, Adrian Newey of Red Bull Racing, and their star F1 driver, Sebastian Vettel.

This car will only be available to drive in Gran Turismo 5 exclusively for the PS3.

Oh, and unlike the Bugatti which is only fast in straights, this car was designed to take on the toughest tracks in the world and still keep up a high speed. Add to that the crazy accelaration this vehicle is boasting.

And who knows, Red Bull might finance actually making this car in real life.

I can't imagine someone being crazy enough to drive this vehicle with these specs though.

Specs:

* Engine: gas turbine, 1483bhp @ 15,000RPM, 527lb ft @ 12,000RPM

* Transmission: continuously variable, rear-wheel drive

* Top Speed: 249mph

* Weight: 545kg

* Length/Width/Height: 4750/2180/980mm

* Suzuka Lap Time: 1:11.540 (compare with Vettel’s 2009 F1 lap time of 1:30.833)

* Special Features: enclosed wheels, “fan element” to increase low and medium-speed downforce (much like a vacuum cleaner)

that will never be viable in real life. if its made for GT5, then it will be ONLY in GT5. even as a concept car, the cost to develop it would be astronomical.

they should change f1 regulations to allow these.
probably a lot of problems with doing that, but meh, it would make some awesome races.

It'll be too dangerous just as with the Group C cars.

The lateral g's exerted on your body is dangerous enough when driving with this car.

if it's red bull, why is it in blue? this will look really scary/daring if it uses the red bull color scheme (red and yellow)...

I would never say never with anything having to do with Red Bull. This brand is so freaking big, 100 million (estimated cost) to develop this car would be almost nothing.

I can imagine Mercedes or Renault providing the engine since that'll be good marketing for them.

lol Actually, since it's a gas turbine I wouldn't be surprised Red Bull hire a company like Pratt & Whitney to develop the engine.

you appear to have more faith in Red Bull than I. but granted, enough money and anything is possible. consider the fact that yes, 100 mil may be within the realm of possibility, but no company spends money on "cool". everything a company does is in the interest of making far more than they spend, what does Red Bull stand to gain from making a car (technology and all) from scratch? Keeping in mind they think in quarterly profits, not "ill make 100 billion in 20 years"
